APPLE BUTTER

This recipe won me a blue ribbon at the Montana State Fair several years ago. It was my father’s recipe and he always made it in a crock. pot.

Ingredients

5 pounds of tart apples, peeled, cored and cubed

3 cups apple cider or apple juice3

1 cup brown sugar

3 cups white sugar

1t. ground cloves

4t. cinnamon

 

Instructions

Cook together the apples and cider on the stove for 25 minutes after they come to a boil. Then puree with an immersion blender or in a regular blender.

Add: all the sugar and spices to apples. Put all in a crock pot set on high for 6 to 7 hours.

Leave lid off unless it is splattering. When thick enough, put in canning jars.

Turn the jars upside down for 5 to 10 minutes. This will seal the jars without waterbathing. This process was approved by the Montana Health Dept.
