MINI FRUIT TARTS

Everyone in church marveled at these. I finally had to tell them how very easy these are to make! This recipe is especially fun for children to do.

1-16.5 oz roll of Pillsbury’s sugar cookie dough
1-21 can of your favorite pie filling

Preheat oven to 350*. Grease mini muffin pan that holds 24.
Slice cookie dough into 12 slices, then cut each of those into 2 slices. Roll each into a ball and put into muffin cups.
Bake 14-18 minutes or until golden brown. Each cup should have an indentation, if not, use the end of a wooden spoon to make one.
Cool. Fill each cup with your favorite filling. You can leave plain or top with a dab of whipped cream or icing.

I always make a double batch—one is not enough!!

Christmas Cactus

Just in time for the holidays. We have been enjoying this for several days!

Mise En Place

A friend of mine used this term yesterday. I hadn’t thought about it in years but is a very important term cooking. Let me explain: it simply means gathering all ingredients and cooking equipment together BEFORE you start to cook or bake. This is important in preparing any dish. There is nothing more frustrating than getting in the middle of your preparation and finding out you don’t have one of the ingredients.

Look at any recipe-first listed is the ingredient list then the preparation instructions.

Read a recipe a couple of times before starting. Make sure you have ALL your ingredients and cookware gathered before starting. You will really enjoy your time in the kitchen.
